What coaching is for
Clear Horizon coaching is designed to support real-time learning and practical application of learning in your own context. It is a space to reflect, test ideas, and work through real MEL challenges you are facing. As well as accessing immediately applicable expertise, it also helps you strengthen your thinking, judgement and confidence as a practitioner.
Why do coaching with us
Coaching with Clear Horizon gives you access to highly experienced MEL practitioners, based on 20+ years Clear Horizon expertise and leading practice across scales and domestic and international sectors. We bring a wealth of expertise across MEL design and implementation, strategy, organisational MEL, systems transformation, theory of change, contribution analysis, and program design – to support you with your learning goals.
Coach matching
After you register, you’ll receive a short questionnaire to provide context and goals so we understand your challenges and goals, and as needed may have a quick call to unpack this further. Then we’ll pair you up with a Clear Horizon MEL coach best suited for your needs. If you have a preferred Clear Horizon consultant you’d like to work with, let us know.
Pricing and coach availability
Prices are based on the coaching level purchased (e.g., Standard or Advanced). Coach availability (including time zones) may mean we need to match you with a coach at a different level than originally selected. If this results in a price change, we will confirm the options and any updated price with you before booking or proceeding.
How sessions usually work
Typically in a coaching session, we move quickly from focus to clarity to action. We will clarify what you are aiming to learn, unpack your context and challenge, and co-create practical options you can apply straight away. Then we follow up after the session with any tools or resources that will help you keep moving.
Tip: If you bring a live challenge (even if it feels messy), we can move quickly to set the focus and map your context, then spend most of the session unpacking the issue and agreeing practical next actions.
Inclusions and timing
All coaching includes light pre-work, a structured close-out, tailored resources and connections (as needed), and clear next actions. The timing of the coaching sessions can be scheduled and cadenced to suit your needs. Coaching packages (for 1-5 sessions) are valid for 12 months from date of purchase and 18 months for 10 session packages.
How to get the most from coaching
- Come with real questions. Coaching works best when grounded in live issues from your work e.g. a design decision, a stakeholder challenge, or uncertainty about how to apply a concept.
- Be open about context. MEL and strategic practice is shaped by organisational, political and resource realities. Sharing these constraints helps make the conversation relevant and useful.
- Expect challenge as well as support. Coaching may involve questioning assumptions, surfacing trade offs, and exploring alternative perspectives. This is part of learning, not a sign you’re “doing it wrong”.
- Connect coaching to action. You’ll get the most value when you leave coaching sessions with a clearer way of framing a problem, one or two concrete next steps to try in your work.
- Own your decisions. Your coach supports your thinking, but decisions remain yours. Coaching aims to strengthen your capability, not replace your judgement.
What coaching is not
- Consulting or technical sign off
- Performance assessment
- A substitute for organisational decision making
- A guarantee of a single “best practice” approach
Clear Horizon coaching is capability‑building, not delivery‑focused and is not consultancy. We do not take over your work, design solutions for you, or provide formal sign‑off. We work alongside you to strengthen your thinking, test assumptions, and support better decisions. Responsibility for decisions and actions stays with you.
This makes coaching particularly valuable when you want expert thinking close to the work, without engaging a full consultancy project.
Our coaches are senior and executive MEL practitioners with deep experience across programs, portfolios and systems, but the focus of each session is on your learning and application, not on producing a consulting output.
Cancellations, rescheduling and refunds
Sessions are scheduled as set appointments. You can cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours notice. Sessions missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are forfeited. Arriving more than 15 minutes late without prior notice will be treated as late cancellation.
Sessions cannot be rescheduled more than three times.
If unexpected circumstances prevent you from completing a package, you may request a refund for the remaining sessions (subject to approval). We do not offer refunds for sessions already delivered. To discuss contact: learning@clearhorizonacademy.com
Confidentiality
Coaching conversations are confidential and coaches will not share what you discuss, or use your name as a reference, without your consent.
